Where are classes and courses held?
Classes and courses are held at The Cake Workshop, a dedicated studio, at Beaufort Cottage, 88 Kennedys Bush Rd, Halswell, Christchurch.
Do I need to book in advance or can I just turn up?
Please book! Places in each class are limited and there may not be room for a last minute arrival. If you have forgotten to enrol I suggest you phone or email me to ask if there is a seat available - you may be lucky!
Can I buy a course or class as a gift?
Yes! A class or course is a great present for anyone who enjoys cooking, baking or craft and is so much better than giving more 'stuff'! We have vouchers available for any class or dollar amount you would like to give and these are valid for a year. If your recipient would prefer a different class to the one you have chosen we are happy to swap the value over.
Do you give refunds if I really can't make it?
I offer a 50% refund if you have paid for a course / class in full and notify me more than two weeks before the start date that you are not able to attend. Alternatively, you may prefer a full credit for another course / class of the same value to be taken within 6 months. No refund will be paid once the course begins for sessions that you do not attend or for a second default.
What if you get sick and can't teach the class / course?
In that case, you will be offered a full refund or, alternatively, another course!
How many students are there in a class?
All lessons are in small groups of no more than 8 students.
Do I need to be 'artistic' to enjoy cake dressing classes?
No! Even if you do not consider yourself 'artistic', you will have a lot of fun and achieve great results that may surprise you!
Do I need to have some experience already?
No. If some previous experience is considered helpful it will say so in the course description.
Do I need to buy a lot of equipment to be able to do a course /class?
No! All tools and materials required in lessons will be provided for you to use. You just need to bring an apron, a container so you can take your edible masterpieces home, and your can-do attitude.
Do you do birthday parties?
Yes, I enjoy taking a cupcake / cookie dressing session as a fun activity for birthday parties at The Cake Workshop but I am unable to provide party food, although you are welcome to bring some if you wish. Be aware, though, that the group (and my tables) will be kept very busy but we can schedule in a break if preferred. There is a minimum number of four people required for a booking and I can take a maximum of eight. Prices start at $55 per person for 2.5 hours and longer or shorter party times can be negotiated. The age of the group has no effect on price as the same amount of time and materials are required for all.
I really want to do a course but none of your times suit me! What can I do?
Talk to me. I may be able to schedule a course to suit, or you may find private lessons helpful.
I really want to learn something that you are not currently offering. Can you help?
Contact me and I may be able to offer a class / course to suit, or you might consider taking a private lesson
I have a group of friends and we would love to do a class / course together. Is that possible?
It sure is! Contact me to discuss your ideas.
Do you do classes for women's day-time groups or small hen parties?
Yes. Tell me what you need and I will try to oblige.
